Driver stabbed to death

JAKARTA (JP): A driver was stabbed to death on Saturday in a
fight with four criminals who robbed his girlfriend in Cawang,
East Jakarta.

The brother of the driver, Malik, told The Jakarta Post at his
house yesterday that Tulus, 23, was trying to catch one of the
four thugs who had robbed Yanti of her necklace.

According to Malik, who quoted eyewitnesses and police
officers, during the fight one of the four men stabbed him in the
waist.

"The criminals attacked him with a knife and ran away," said
Malik, who caught a bus soon after he learned of the tragedy.

He said Tulus died at Kramat Jati Hospital 30 minutes later.

Tulus, a driver for PT Sandi Maska Pura, and Yanti were on
their way to her house when the incident happened, said Malik.
