Driver killed in S. Jakarta
JAKARTA (JP): An angry debtor stabbed to death a man he owed money on Jl. Cidodol, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, last week, for pressing him about the money.
The Kebayoran Lama Police Subprecinct said Her owed the victim, Mardiono, Rp 80,000 (US$34.33).
A police sergeant said Mardiono and his wife, Susi, visited Her Friday night to ask for the money.
"They were involved in a heated quarrel which ended with Her stabbing the victim in the stomach," the officer said, adding that an unidentified friend of Her helped.
Susi screamed upon seeing her husband dying, while Her and his friend escaped.
Local residents helped Susi rush Mardiono to the Pelni Hospital, but the 35-year-old man died on the way.
Mardiono worked as a driver at the Shangri-La Hotel and lived on Jl. Duri Kepa, Tanjung Duren district, West Jakarta.
Susi told police she visited Her Friday morning and asked him to return the money. "He refused to pay and harassed me instead."
"I then ask my husband to accompany me to Her's house," she said at the Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital's morgue.
Susi was Mardiono's second wife. His first Wife, Ati, gave him a child. Ati, 29, and Susi, 21, went to the morgue to see Mardiono's body on Saturday. (jun)
