Driver Charged in Joxzin Member Murder Case in Bantul
Police have formally charged FS (22) as a murder suspect in connection with the killing of Joxzin gang member Kitin Yogatama Rustamaji, alias KYR (36). FS served as a ride-hailing driver who transported SS, alias Cobro, the main perpetrator who carried out the killing. Both are facing potential capital punishment.
“FS was formally charged as a suspect yesterday (10 March 2026),” Bantul Police Chief AKBP Bayu Puji Hariyanto told journalists at Bantul Police Headquarters on Wednesday (11 March 2026).
Hariyanto continued that both FS and SS, alias Cobro (29), are currently in custody at Bantul Police Headquarters and are undergoing further interrogation.
“We have detained both suspects,” he stated.
SS faces charges under Article 459, subsidiary Article 458(1) of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. This pertains to crimes of premeditated murder — taking another person’s life with prior planning. FS is charged under Article 459, subsidiary Article 458(1) read in conjunction with Article 20(c) of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
“Both face potential capital punishment, life imprisonment, or a maximum of 20 years imprisonment,” he said.
KYR resided in Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul. He was killed whilst sleeping alongside his wife and child in the living room on Wednesday (25 February) at 05:30 WIB (Western Indonesian Time). The perpetrators arrived by motorcycle wearing face coverings. One allegedly entered through an unlocked rear door and repeatedly stabbed the victim until he died. The victim’s wife, who attempted to protect him, was injured and required hospital treatment. No valuables were taken.
The Bantul Police Chief stated that the victim and both perpetrators had been drinking alcohol together at the victim’s home. Afterwards, the victim made remarks that offended Cobro, leading to the fatal assault.
“SS, FS, and the victim — eight people total — gathered at KYR’s home from 20:00 WIB on 24 February until 04:00 WIB on 25 February, where they consumed alcohol,” the Bantul Police Chief explained.
During the drinking session, conversations arose that were deemed hurtful to Cobro’s feelings. The victim’s words were: “If you think you’re pious, don’t be here” (in the Javanese dialect).
“At 04:00 WIB, SS convinced FS to retrieve a machete from his house. Then at 05:00 WIB they returned to KYR’s home via the rear door, finding KYR asleep with his child and wife, and proceeded to attack him repeatedly,” he stated.
The Police Chief noted that Cobro wielded a brown-handled machete measuring 53 centimetres in length. Cobro struck KYR multiple times.
“SS then struck three times — the first blow struck the left side of the face, the second struck the abdomen and also caught KYR’s wife’s finger, and the third struck the right thigh of KYR, resulting in KYR’s death,” he concluded.
