Driver Beaten by Residents After Asking for Blockade to Be Opened
An incident occurred on the Tente-Parado crossroad, specifically in Tangga Village, Monta District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. The victim is believed to have been targeted by a mob after requesting that the roadblock be opened. Inspector Sudarto, head of Monta Police Sector, said the incident happened earlier today. He identified the victim as Adnan (30), a resident of Nata Village, Palibelo District, Bima Regency. He said the victim had formally reported the alleged assault to Bima Police Resort on the same day. Separately, Adnan said the incident began when he and his wife were travelling to Simpasai Village. Upon arriving at Tangga Village, their journey was halted by a crowd that blocked the road with stones and wood. Seeing the roadblock, he got out of the car, while his wife remained inside. Adnan then asked for the blocked road to be opened because it affected road users, including him. However, his request was not accepted by the residents. He said a group of people suddenly assaulted him. He was chased while trying to escape the crowd. “I was beaten by numerous people until I sustained abrasions and swelling around the eye and bruising on the shoulder,” he said. Following the incident, Adnan said he reported the case to Bima Police. He hopes the report will be acted on promptly and that the perpetrators will be arrested. “I hope this matter is addressed as soon as possible,” he added.
