Driver Assaulted in Cibubur Following Car Horn Dispute

The Gunung Putri Police Chief, Commissioner Aulia Robby Kartika Putra, has confirmed the incident depicted in a viral video. Robby stated that the victim of the assault has filed an official police report. “Yes, it has been reported. The perpetrator is still under investigation,” Robby said when asked for confirmation on Monday (18/05/202<0xA0>6).

Robby noted that the altercation, which escalated into physical assault and vehicle vandalism, occurred on Jalan Alternatif Cibubur, Nagrak Village, Gunung Putri District, on Sunday (17/05) at approximately 00:33 WIB. The perpetrator reportedly exited his vehicle and immediately attacked the victim and damaged the car.

“The complainant observed the perpetrator exiting his vehicle alone and immediately committing assault and vandalism. The perpetrator struck the complainant twice with a clenched right fist, forcefully hitting the complainant’s lips, and then struck the right side of the complainant’s jaw twice,” Robby explained.

“Furthermore, the perpetrator vandalised the complainant’s vehicle by striking the right-side wing mirror three times, breaking the front right wiper, kicking the front right door once, and kicking the rear bumper once,” he added.

Robby stated that the incident was triggered by the use of a car horn. The victim was startled when the perpetrator’s vehicle suddenly emerged from an alley, prompting him to sound a long horn blast. “The reported vehicle emerged from Jl Masjid At Taqwa towards Jalan Alternatif Cibubur, immediately taking the centre lane. The complainant was startled and spontaneously sounded the horn once in a long blast,” he clarified.

The moment of the altercation was recorded and went viral on social media. In the video, the driver is seen involved in a dispute with a man on the roadside. The man appears to be raging and verbally abusing the driver, who remains seated in the driver’s seat. The man in the video is seen directing several punches towards the driver and damaging the car’s wiper and right-side wing mirror. In the viral footage, the man outside the car continues to shout and even threatens to shoot the driver. The recording ends as the driver leaves the assailant behind to continue his journey.
