Driver Allegedly Fell Asleep and Crashed into Jusuf Kalla's Fence in South Jakarta
A woman identified by her initials HP (35) crashed into the residence of Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK), in the Dharmawangsa area of South Jakarta. Police said HP was allegedly drowsy at the time, causing her vehicle to strike the fence of Kalla’s home.
“The driver was probably falling asleep, so she lost control,” said the Head of Public Relations at the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Murodih, to reporters on Wednesday (18/2/2026).
Murodih explained that the accident occurred at approximately 03.45 Western Indonesian Time. He said the driver had been on her way home at the time.
“Yes, the incident happened this morning around dawn, at around 03.45 WIB if I’m not mistaken. She was planning to head home. What’s clear is that the driver lives in Jagakarsa,” Murodih explained.
Murodih said the driver plans to pursue mediation. He added that the driver would repair the damaged fence.
“Yes, the plan is for there to be mediation regarding the repair of the damage there,” he said.
