The Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS), through the Deputy for Methodology and Statistical Information, Pudji Ismartini, reported that Indonesia’s exports reached US$25.30 billion in May 2026, representing a 21.98 per cent increase compared to April 2025.

He explained that the total exports in May 2026 were supported by oil and gas exports amounting to US$1.15 billion, a decrease of 1.20 per cent, while non-oil and gas exports reached US$24.15 billion, an increase of 23.36 per cent year-on-year (yoy).

“The increase in April 2026 exports was driven by non-oil and gas commodities, specifically animal and vegetable fats or oils (HS 15), which rose by 66.59 per cent with a 5.91 per cent contribution,” Pudji stated during a press teleconference on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

Other supporting commodities included nickel and its derivatives (HS 75), which also rose by 75.25 per cent with a 2.17 per cent contribution, as well as mechanical machinery and parts (HS 84), which increased by 57.09 per cent with a 1.47 per cent contribution.

Pudji added that the cumulative total exports from January to April 2026 were recorded at US$92.15 billion, an increase of 5.48 per cent compared to the January-April 2025 period. During this period, oil and gas exports were recorded at US$4.41 billion, down 8.30 per cent (yoy), while non-oil and gas exports reached US$87.74 billion, up 6.28 per cent.

He detailed that the cumulative increase in non-oil and gas exports occurred within the manufacturing sector, which served as the primary driver during that period, contributing 7.71 per cent to the total export increase.

Furthermore, Pudji noted that the significant rise in exports from the manufacturing industry originated from processed nickel products, palm oil, organic basic chemicals derived from agricultural products, and other inorganic basic chemicals, as well as semiconductors and other electronic components.
