Drinking Water Pipeline Project Leads to Traffic Engineering on Several Roads in South Jakarta's Pesanggrahan

Several roads in Pesanggrahan sub-district, South Jakarta, are experiencing traffic engineering due to the construction of a drinking water pipeline network by Perumda Air Minum Jaya (PAM Jaya). This phased work has the potential to cause road narrowing and vehicle congestion at various points. Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Ujang Harmawan, stated that the traffic engineering is being enforced to support the project’s implementation. Affected roads include Jalan Bintaro Utara, Jalan Bintaro Puspita, Jalan Bintaro Permai, Jalan Kodam Bintaro, Jalan Pesanggrahan Indah, Jalan Garuda, Jalan M. Saidi Raya, and Jalan Ciledug Raya. Ujang explained that the drinking water pipeline network construction project is divided into eight phases (sequences) using jacking and phased excavation methods. In the initial phase (Sequence 1), jacking work has been ongoing since 15 January until 30 April 2026 at several points, such as Jalan Bintaro Utara and Jalan Bintaro Puspita. At these locations, part of the work is in the road median up to the carriageway, causing a reduction in lane width. Next, Sequence 2 involves phased excavation along approximately 1 kilometre, starting from 16 April until 17 June 2026. Meanwhile, Sequences 3 to 7 have been completed. “In this phase, the work is also carried out using jacking and phased excavation methods,” said Ujang. The Transportation Agency reminds the public that during the project, there will be road narrowing and potential traffic density. Nevertheless, access in and out of buildings around the project site remains open despite the work. The public is urged to avoid affected roads, comply with traffic signs, and follow the directions of officers on site.
