Jakarta (ANTARA) - Dreame, a Chinese company known for making high-tech vacuum robots and floor cleaners, showcased an electric car concept with rocket propulsion engines at the DREAME NEXT event in San Francisco, United States.

According to an Arena EV broadcast on Thursday (30/4), the most striking feature of the concept car called Nebula NEXT 01 JET Edition is its speed.

Dreame claims its concept car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 0.9 seconds, far faster than most top-class electric cars that take two or three seconds to achieve it.

Reaching 100 km/h in less than one second is typically only achievable by fighter jets or professional drag racers.

Dreame’s concept car looks like a sleek four-door sedan, but the rear houses a pair of specially designed solid-fuel rocket boosters.

Dreame claims this system provides 100 kN of thrust, and the rocket boosters on the vehicle are designed to react almost instantly, launching in just 150 milliseconds.

In addition to the eye-catching rocket engine, the Nebula NEXT 01 JET Edition is equipped with solid-state batteries with an energy density of more than 450 Wh/kg.

For people who drive electric cars every day, this is actually more appealing than the rocket propulsion engine, because better batteries mean longer trips and faster charging times.

The steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire technology allows the car to react faster and saves space within the chassis.

The Nebula NEXT 01 JET Edition is also equipped with safety features and automatic driving assistance.

Dreame has installed the DHX1 LiDAR sensor on this vehicle, which can detect objects up to 600 metres away. Most current sensors struggle to detect objects that far with detail.

The company claims their sensor can detect shapes clearly, not just blurry outlines.

However, the cabin of the Nebula NEXT 01 JET Edition feels less like a vehicle and more like a mobile office or living room.

Because Dreame makes household appliances, they seem to be turning the car into a smart home control centre, with car AI assistant support to talk to vacuum robots at home or check other gadgets.

Dreame plans to start building vehicles in 2027. The first production model for the public is likely to be the Nebula Next 01X, a high-performance sedan without rocket engines.
