Dramatic Pursuit of Brutal Robber in Riau Ends with Suspect Shot
The flight of a brutal robber who stabbed a company cashier in Pelalawan, Riau, ended swiftly. The perpetrator, Jodi Alfandi (27), was captured in less than 24 hours. The pursuit of the suspect was dramatic. The perpetrator attempted to ram a police officer before ultimately being immobilised with a gunshot to the leg.
Pelalawan Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Bayu Ramadhan Effendi stated that his team immediately launched a pursuit after receiving a report of the robbery on Jalan Lintas Timur Km 43, Kiyap Jaya Village, Bandar Sei Kijang District, Pelalawan Regency, on Wednesday afternoon (17/6).
“From processing the crime scene and CCTV footage around the location, we finally obtained the identity of the individual in question, named Jodi Alfandi,” Bayu said in a statement on Friday (19/6/2026).
On Thursday (18/6) at around 03:30 WIB, the team received information that the suspect was travelling from Pekanbaru to Seikijang Airport. Upon receiving this information, the team immediately gave chase. “The suspect then passed by and the team attempted to stop him, but the suspect accelerated his vehicle and tried to ram one of the officers,” he said.
Unwilling to let their quarry escape, police then fired a measured shot after the suspect ignored warnings. The suspect was successfully secured after being immobilised by a gunshot to his leg. “Because the suspect resisted, the team took firm, measured action and succeeded in immobilising the perpetrator,” he stated.
Police then made the arrest and conducted a search. The search uncovered cash amounting to Rp 36,370,000 in his possession. “The suspect confessed that the money was from the violent theft he committed on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, at approximately 17:00 WIB at the SPB TBS disbursement office of PT. MPT (Malika Putri Tunggal) on Lintas Timur Km 43, Kiyap Jaya Village, Bandar Sei Kijang District, Pelalawan Regency,” he explained.
Chronology of the Robbery
The incident occurred at the company office on Jalan Lintas Timur Km 43, Kiyap Jaya Village, Bandar Sei Kijang District, Pelalawan Regency, on Wednesday afternoon (17/6). Initially, the suspect named Jodi arrived at the location to survey the situation. The suspect came pretending to ask to use the toilet. There, he took a pair of scissors to use as a weapon.
Approximately two hours later, precisely at 16:50 WIB, the suspect returned to the office, whose door was open. Immediately, the suspect threatened and brandished the scissors, forcing the victim to hand over the safe key. The victim refused and screamed for help. The suspect then assaulted the victim, stabbing her 22 times. The victim was left helpless and collapsed, weak and covered in blood. The perpetrator then seized the safe key from the cashier’s desk.
After successfully seizing the safe key, the perpetrator looted approximately Rp 76 million in cash from the safe. Before fleeing, the suspect washed his injured hands in the toilet, then damaged the front porch CCTV camera with a stone.
