Dragged out of Congressional Hearing, US Marine Veteran Shouts 'No One Wants to Go to War for Israel'
Washington — A US Marine veteran has gone viral on social media. The Marine was forcibly escorted from a congressional hearing after protesting President Trump’s decision to launch a military operation against Iran.
Brian McGinnis, who is running for senator in the upcoming election from the Green Party, was heard shouting, ‘No one wants to go to war for Israel’ as security officers escorted him from the chamber.
McGinnis was pulled out by two uniformed officers.
A video clip uploaded by CBS News journalist Alan He shows Senator Tim Sheehy of Montana, also a US veteran, helping Capitol Police lift and push McGinnis out of the room.
He was then quoted by CBS as saying that he ‘decided to help and de-escalate the situation’.
Another activist present at the hearing was also unwilling to see American troops die merely to fight for Iran’s cause. ‘We do not support Israel, we do not want to die for Israel, stop the war against Iran now as well,’ the female activist said.
She lamented how McGinnis had to be dragged out forcibly simply for opposing a war to defend Israel.
Public opinion in the US is indeed divided over the decision for the United States to attack Iran alongside Israel.
The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that only one in four Americans approve of the military strike against Iran. The aggression conducted with Israel has plunged the Middle East into a chaotic conflict.
According to the survey, only 27 percent of respondents expressed support for the attack that began in the early hours of Saturday and killed Iran’s leader. By contrast, 43 percent said they did not agree, while 29 percent were undecided.
Meanwhile, several US ally nations have chosen to be cautious or even refused to participate in the US-Israel war against Iran.
