Dr Tifa Withdraws Pretrial Motion Over Arrest in South Jakarta Court

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tifauziah Tyassuma, known as Dr Tifa, a suspect in an alleged defamation and libel case concerning the authenticity of former President Joko Widodo’s academic diplomas, has withdrawn her pretrial motion regarding her search and arrest by Polda Metro Jaya investigators at the South Jakarta District Court.

“We decided to withdraw the pretrial application,” Tifa told reporters in Jakarta on Thursday.

Tifa stated the decision was made after she was granted a suspension of detention and will not be held in custody during the legal proceedings. “We had submitted the pretrial request. This is in light of developments where it was decided on 21 June 2026 that I would not be detained during the trial process,” she said.

According to her, she and Roy Suryo had prepared their respective legal steps from the outset, although they continue to coordinate in facing the case. The handling of their cases has been split, requiring each to assemble their own legal team and strategy. “The cases are split. Mr Roy Suryo’s is number 300, mine is number 301,” she said. “This means we must have our own teams and our own strategies. But we continue to synergise.”

The South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office did not detain the suspects in the alleged defamation case regarding the authenticity of former President Joko Widodo’s diplomas, Roy Suryo and Tifauzia Tyassuma. Roy Suryo has filed a pretrial motion concerning his search and arrest by Polda Metro Jaya investigators at the South Jakarta District Court.

Previously, information circulated from the Anti-Criminalisation Advocacy Team for Academics and Activists (TA-AKAA) that on Friday (19/6) at around 07.00 WIB, Roy Suryo Notodiprojo was reported by his wife to have been arrested by Polda Metro Jaya investigators. Meanwhile, Dr Tifa’s Defence Team (TPDT) revealed that Dr Tifa was arrested by police at her apartment on Friday (19/6) morning at around 06.47 WIB.
