Dr Tifa Firmly Rejects Restorative Justice, Ready to Fight Charges in Court

Dr Tifa has asserted she will not pursue a settlement through restorative justice in the case she is currently facing. The stance was conveyed following the inaugural hearing for the reading of the indictment at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday, 2 July 2026. In addition to rejecting restorative justice, Dr Tifa also stated she will face the entire legal process through trial. She emphasised she will not take any other settlement steps outside the mechanism of evidentiary proceedings in court. “Dr Tifa will not undertake restorative justice; secondly, I will mount a defence; thirdly, I will not accept a plea bargain,” said Dr Tifa. The statement serves as an affirmation of Dr Tifa’s position in facing the case, which has now entered the trial stage. She has chosen to undergo the legal process and contest the charges brought by the public prosecutor. Meanwhile, Dr Tifa’s legal counsel stated that their team has not yet provided an official response to the indictment read by the public prosecutor. According to the legal counsel, the defence team is still awaiting the complete official examination report before formulating a response or defence strategy for the trial. “We have not provided an answer before receiving the case file. We will obtain it and provide a complete response,” said Dr Tifa’s legal counsel. The legal counsel considers the completeness of the case file documents crucial for them to prepare a comprehensive defence in accordance with the material of the case being charged. Responding to the request, the public prosecutor stated that the official examination report could be provided on the same day. “The case file can be given today,” said the public prosecutor during the hearing. Nevertheless, Dr Tifa’s legal counsel stressed that they require the case file in its entirety, not just partial documents as they claim to have previously received.
