Dr Tifa Faces Two Consecutive Hearings: Jokowi Diploma Case and UI Dissertation

The defendant in the case involving allegations of a fake diploma belonging to the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, Tifauzia Tyassuma, alias Dr Tifa, has announced that she will undergo her doctoral programme dissertation defence on Friday (3/7).

She stated that the dissertation examination is scheduled exactly one day after her first hearing regarding the Jokowi diploma case on Thursday (2/7).

“I am currently preparing for my exam the day after tomorrow; the day after tomorrow is my dissertation defence, so I will be facing two examinations on two consecutive days. Tomorrow is a legal hearing, a legal exam. The day after tomorrow is a medical exam,” Tifa said during a ‘Head to Head’ segment on CNN Indonesia on Wednesday (1/7).

Tifa mentioned that she and Roy Suryo remain united in facing this case. She noted that the two have known each other for a long time, making it unlikely they would part ways because of this legal matter.

“Yes, we are facing two different trials, one in South Jakarta and one in East Jakarta. But that does not mean we are parting ways,” she said.

Dr Tifa was previously arrested in connection with this case before eventually being released. One of Dr Tifa’s legal team members, Azis Yanuar, mentioned that his client was intending to take her dissertation exam or PhD programme exam at the University of Indonesia (UI) Faculty of Medicine at the time of the arrest.

Azis reported that Dr Tifa was arrested at her apartment last Friday (19/6) at approximately 06:47 WIB. Following the arrest, Dr Tifa was immediately taken to the Metro Jaya Regional Police.

Azis stated that despite the arrest, Dr Tifa still participated in her dissertation examination online. He shared a photo of Dr Tifa sitting in a room which he identified as being within the premises of the Metro Jaya Regional Police.
