Dr Tifa Appears with 25 Lawyers for First Hearing in Jokowi Diploma Case

Tifauzia Tyassuma, known as Dr Tifa, attended the first hearing of her alleged defamation and slander case concerning the authenticity of the academic diplomas of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday, 2 July 2026. “I am here at the East Jakarta District Court to fulfil the summons from the Prosecutor’s Office, accompanied by my 25 lawyers,” Dr Tifa told reporters at the court. For this initial hearing, Dr Tifa engaged 25 advocates to assist her. She mentioned that these lawyers are representing her without seeking any payment. “Alhamdulillah, all of them have agreed to accompany me in this struggle pro bono, a struggle without recompense,” she revealed. She explained that all preparations had been thoroughly made to face the first hearing of the Jokowi diploma case. “Our preparation, of course, with our knowledge, we have carried out a mapping of the situation that will occur and will be faced in the first hearing and subsequent hearings,” Dr Tifa stated. It was previously reported that the East Jakarta District Court had appointed a panel of judges to handle the special criminal case numbered 301/Pid.Sus/2026/PN Jkt Tim, with the defendant named Tifauzia Tyassuma. “The Chief of the East Jakarta District Court has appointed a panel of judges to handle this case. Based on this determination, the panel of judges who will lead the trial is Christina Endarwati,” said the Spokesperson for the East Jakarta District Court, Immanuel Tarigan, on Friday. The appointment was made by the Chief of the East Jakarta District Court as part of the administrative process and preparation for the case. He noted that the appointed panel was considered to have adequate competence and experience in handling various cases. The member judges in Dr Tifa’s trial will be Rudi Rafli Siregar and Mathilda Chrystina Katarina. Furthermore, to support the smooth administration of the trial, the East Jakarta District Court also appointed two substitute clerks, namely Joyo Supriyanto and Zuliana Maro. He stated that the determination of the panel of judges also involved considerations of aspects of competence, integrity, and the experience of the judges concerned.
