DPR's Legislation Body Agrees to Extend Aceh's Special Autonomy Funds, Amount to Be Discussed
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The House of Representatives Legislation Body (Baleg) of the Republic of Indonesia has agreed to extend the special autonomy funds (otsus) for Aceh in the revision of the Aceh Governance Law.
Deputy Chairman of Baleg DPR RI Ahmad Doli Kurnia stated that the agreement was reached following discussions on the Aceh Governance Bill with the government.
“In our discussions in the Legislation Body, particularly in the working committee drafting the Aceh Bill, we have agreed to extend the special status of Aceh’s governance, including the extension of the special autonomy funds,” Doli said during a meeting at the DPR RI Building on Wednesday (15/4/2026).
However, Baleg DPR has not yet determined the amount of otsus funds to be provided in the future.
“Now, the issue of the amount and everything else will of course be discussed in more detail later,” he concluded.
It is known that the revision process of the Aceh Governance Law has been underway since mid-2025.
Chairman of Baleg DPR RI Bob Hasan assessed that the regulatory revision is urgent to provide legal certainty and adjust to current needs.
“I say that the 2006 Aceh Governance Law has reached its term, so to speak, after 20 years. This must be properly completed at this opportunity,” Bob said during the working committee meeting on Wednesday (14/1/2026).
Chairman of Commission II DPR RI Rifqinizamy Karsayuda expressed support for extending the otsus funds for the next 20 years, with the amount returning to 2 percent of the national General Allocation Fund (DAU).
“In the new law, it will be stipulated that Aceh will receive otsus funds of 2 percent from the National DAU for the next 20 years. That means from 2028 to 2048,” Rifqinizamy stated.
