DPR's Commitment to Pass Asset Forfeiture Bill by December 2026 Deserves Appreciation
During a plenary session of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad affirmed the target of completing the Asset Forfeiture Bill by the end of 2026. In line with this, Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI, Habiburokhman, stated that the schedule is not merely a target but a certainty to bring the draft to a plenary session.
Gus Din emphasised that this bill is highly anticipated by the public so that law enforcement provides a genuine deterrent effect. However, he reminded that the deliberation process must uphold the principles of justice, transparency, and non-selectivity.
“We want strong laws that remain just. This bill must be able to create a balance between the state’s interest in saving assets and the protection of citizens’ rights,” he added.
National Coordinator of the Prabowo-Gibran Volunteer Alliance (ARPG), Syafrudin Budiman, expressed high appreciation for the DPR RI’s commitment to complete and pass the Asset Forfeiture Bill. The DPR is targeting this crucial regulation to be finalised no later than 15 December 2026.
Syafrudin, familiarly known as Gus Din, assessed that the certainty of the deadline represents a major momentum for strengthening corruption eradication in Indonesia. According to him, this step demonstrates the good intentions of the DPR RI leadership, particularly Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, in responding to public expectations.
“ARPG extends its highest appreciation to the DPR RI leadership who have shown genuine commitment. This is an important instrument to ensure that assets derived from criminal acts can be pursued and recovered for the state,” said Gus Din in Jakarta on Thursday (27/8).
As a leader of a volunteer group supporting the government, Gus Din affirmed that ARPG will continue to oversee the agenda of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in eradicating corruption, collusion, and nepotism. He expressed hope that the passage of this bill will become the foundation for the creation of good governance in Indonesia.
“If corrupt assets can be recovered effectively, the state’s message becomes clear: corruption will not yield profit. The state is present to protect the people’s money,” he concluded.
