Jakarta (ANTARA) - Commission XIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives held a hearing with various partners in the parliamentary complex, Jakarta, on Thursday to discuss recovery for witnesses and victims of past gross human rights violations.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections, the Ministry of Human Rights, the Ministry of Health, the National Human Rights Commission, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency, and BPJS Health.

“Today’s meeting holds very important and strategic significance, namely discussing the resolution of compensation and recovery for witnesses and victims of past gross human rights violations, including social security guarantees and various other forms of compensation,” said Deputy Chairman of Commission XIII of the House of Representatives, Andreas Hugo Pareira.

According to him, through social security, it is hoped that the victims can regain access to healthcare services, economic support, and a more decent and beneficial life.

In addition, Commission XIII of the House of Representatives views social security as playing an important role in reducing the vulnerability experienced by victims so far, while preventing increasingly deep inequalities.

Andreas emphasised that through social security and compensation policies for witnesses and victims of past gross human rights violations, public trust will be strengthened that the state is truly present in providing protection and justice.

“This agenda is also a follow-up to the recommendations from the working visit recess in Yogyakarta on 23-27 February 2026,” he added.
