I think it’s the same; if yesterday the rear carriage was for men too, those who died were the same,” Singgih said to reporters on Wednesday (28/4/2026). Singgih stated that the most important thing now is to improve PT KAI’s management. He called for a comprehensive audit in the wake of the fatal collision between the Argo Bromo train and a KRL at Bekasi Timur Station. “The important thing is to fix the safety management at PT KAI, a comprehensive audit,” he said. Meanwhile, Wastam, a member of DPR’s Commission V from the Democrat Faction, assessed that the rights of men and women are equal regarding life and safety. “Basically, the rights of men and women are the same, especially concerning a person’s life,” said Wastam. Nevertheless, he did not object to changing the position of the women’s carriage. This Democrat legislator viewed the proposal from the Minister of PPPA as feasible. “But if women are considered physically weaker than men, then it would be better to place the weaker ones in the safest possible position so that if something unwanted happens, the casualties are minimised. Even better, according to expectations, there are no casualties,” said Wastam. “This proposal is feasible,” he added. Nevertheless, he reminded that PT KAI must enhance its security system. He hoped such incidents would not recur. “Just optimise the security system, so if something happens, it can be handled. Even better if it can be resolved before causing problems,” Wastam stated. “Everyone must improve, including educating the public that if it endangers others, it should be avoided,” he added. Minister of PPPA Arifah Fauzi is known to have proposed placing the women’s KRL carriage in the middle of the train set. This proposal stems from the fatal train collision at Bekasi Timur. “But with this incident, we propose that if possible, the women’s carriage be placed in the middle,” Arifah said to reporters after visiting victims at Bekasi General Hospital on Tuesday (28/4).
