DPR's Commission III calls on Polri to boldly dismiss members in line with Prabowo's directive

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Ahmad Sahroni, Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), has urged the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to have the courage to dismiss officers who act as enablers of crime, in line with directives from President Prabowo Subianto. He said Commission III fully supports President Prabowo’s firm stance to take action against all individuals within the force who attempt to shield wrongdoing. He stated that if the President and the Chief of Police are committed, those under them must also be compliant. ‘Do not hesitate to carry out PTDH (dismissal not with honour) and to prosecute any individual who persists in shielding crime,’ he said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. He noted that the President’s directive regarding such personnel is clear. Therefore, he added, there must be no more underlings within the institution who take opportunities for wrongdoing. He argued that President Prabowo’s leadership shows a commitment that law enforcement should be non-partisan and equal in its treatment of wrongdoing. He asserted that regardless of rank or position, everyone should be actioned against if they violate the law. ‘No matter how high the rank, how influential, if they still cause harm to the public, they will be nipped in the bud. There will be no exceptions,’ he said. Previously, the President urged the public that if they encounter misconduct by officials, they can record it on a mobile phone and report directly to him. Speaking during the delivery of the Macro Economic Framework and the Main Policies of Fiscal Policy (KEM-PPKF) at the 19th Plenary Session of the Indonesian DPR RI Session V for the 2025-2026 Year, in the Parliament complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/5), the President said that sometimes officials are involved in corruption. ‘Our people all have devices; if there is misconduct by officials, I want them to video it, video it. Do not resist; just video and report directly to me,’ Prabowo said. On that occasion, the President also ordered all ministers and heads of the Red White Cabinet agencies to purge their ministries of corruption that hinders Indonesia’s economic progress.
