The Lebak Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) has summoned Lebak Regent Hasbi Asyidiki Jayabaya and Deputy Regent Amir Hamzah after they clashed during a halalbihalal event. Hasbi attended, but Amir Hamzah did not.

“Yes, it was yesterday,” said Lebak DPRD Chair Juwita Wulandari to reporters on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

Juwita expressed regret over the tension between Hasbi and Amir. She hopes the two will soon end the quarrel.

“We, the DPRD, request that the tension ends immediately, return to work, focus on performance achievements and public services. Today, the people need real work and inclusive leadership,” she said.

Juwita stated that Hasbi promised to improve his attitude. According to her, Hasbi remains committed to improving Lebak.

“Alhamdulillah, the Regent is ready to improve and reaffirm his commitment to Lebak’s progress,” she said.

Regent Mocks Deputy Regent, Former Inmate

The tension between the Lebak Regent and Deputy Regent occurred during a halalbihalal event held at the Regent’s Office in Lebak on Monday (30/3). Initially, Hasbi gave a speech and directions to civil servants (ASN) to carry out their duties and functions in accordance with applicable regulations.

Hasbi then alluded to the Deputy Regent, whom he said often holds meetings with department heads. He stated that, based on Article 66 of Law No. 20 of 2023 on ASN, the Deputy Regent has limitations in coordinating with the OPD ranks.

“The Deputy Regent’s duties in the ASN Law Article 66 are clear; they must not meddle with department heads at their homes. The article states that if delegated or the Regent is absent, that is the Deputy Regent’s only task,” Hasbi said in his speech.

After that, Hasbi recounted Amir Hamzah’s past as a convict in the 2013 election dispute bribery case. Amir was found to have bribed former Constitutional Court Chief Akil Mochtar.

“At least a former inmate becomes Deputy Regent; be grateful,” Hasbi said in front of Amir.

Amir was annoyed with Hasbi for alluding to his status as a former inmate during the halalbihalal event. He felt humiliated by Hasbi’s remarks.

“When he (Hasbi) said, for example, ‘Amir the former convict, at least he becomes Deputy Regent.’ That’s a personal insult, that’s why I stood up from sitting to tell the Regent not to speak like that,” said Amir.
