DPRD DKI Urges Education Department to Record All School Building Conditions

The Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD DKI) has urged the Education Department to immediately record the condition of all school buildings in the capital to prevent incidents like the recent SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 case. “We are asking for data on the current condition of schools. Which schools are still in good condition, which are in moderate condition, and which are already damaged, lightly damaged, moderately damaged, and heavily damaged. So that in the coming years, we can plan for the renovation and rehabilitation of these buildings,” said M Subki, Chairman of Commission E of the DPRD DKI, at the DPRD DKI Jakarta Building on Monday. Subki reminded that no other damaged schools should be left unrecorded. For this reason, he urged the DKI Jakarta Education Department to record all data on schools in need of repair. On that occasion, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Education Department, Nahdiana, explained that the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung Wibowo, has formed a special team to record and oversee the renovation process of damaged schools. “This team is directed by the Assistant for Development and Environment, with the Assistant for People’s Welfare as the chairperson. The secretary is the Head of the Education Infrastructure and Facilities Unit, and members include the Inspectorate, the Regional Development Planning Agency, the Regional Financial Management Agency, the Regional Asset Management Agency, the Cipta Karya Department, and the Regional Public Procurement Agency,” Nahdiana detailed. Nahdiana explained that the team has been instructed by the Governor of Jakarta to inspect the condition of all school buildings in the capital. In addition, Nahdiana acknowledged that there are still many old school buildings in the capital, with some state educational units having been built before 1947. For this reason, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has decided to prioritise 11 schools for immediate repair.
