Commissions I and III of the Denpasar City DPRD visited the Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST) Tahura Ngurah Rai I in Suwung, South Denpasar, on Monday (13/4/2026). They directly observed the waste sorting process to ensure that waste is properly separated.

“We must appreciate the steps taken by the Mayor. Based on the results of the visit earlier, it was explained that the machines operated at TPST Tahura I indeed require separated waste,” explained the Chairman of Commission III of the Denpasar City DPRD, I Wayan Suadi Putra.

According to him, the two machines at TPST Tahura Ngurah Rai are capable of processing waste up to a total of 200 tons or 100 tons per machine. If waste is managed well, Suadi stated that the TPST could eventually produce refuse-derived fuel (RDF), which is an alternative fuel derived from the processing of inorganic waste (plastic, paper, cloth).

Suadi Putra mentioned that Commissions I and III must sit together again, particularly regarding the strengthening of legal aspects. “Because currently, the system is that they only sell the machines. Although in the operations carried out by DLHK, they are present to conduct supervision,” he explained.

Members of Commissions I and III of the Denpasar City DPRD believe that the existing machines can be operated simultaneously by the providers, while the Environmental Office (DLHK) can focus more on collecting both organic and inorganic waste.

“If they are focused, all equipment, machines, including their operators, will be prepared. In our view, that would be faster. They have also implemented it in other areas,” said Suadi Putra.

“Including, even though it was mentioned earlier that if there is damage, they (the providers) just inform DLHK that this is damaged, that is damaged, please replace it,” he added.

Another issue that needs to be anticipated is the potential for machine damage. Because the quite expensive repair costs will require additional budget. “Because in this system, we will use government funds. So we must first include it in the budget amendment, then we can proceed,” Suadi emphasised.
