DPR Wives' Association Distributes 3,500 Charity and Staple Food Packages Ahead of Ramadan 1447 H
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Wives' Association of Members (PIA) of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) distributed 3,500 charity and staple food packages to orphans and support staff within the DPR complex, including cleaners, office boys, security personnel, gardeners, and honorary employees, ahead of the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.
PIA DPR RI Chairwoman Euis Handayani Dasco said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Thursday that Ramadan is the right time to purify one's heart and strengthen bonds between people.
She emphasised that the initiative forms part of PIA DPR RI's efforts to foster social empathy.
"Ramadan is a moment for purifying the heart, strengthening bonds of fellowship, and cultivating empathy for others," Euis said.
According to her, the number of orphan charity recipients this year has increased compared to the previous year. She expressed hope that the figure would continue to grow in the years ahead and bring tangible benefits to the community.
"Let us welcome this holy month with clean hearts, sincere intentions, and the spirit of sharing. May what we do today bring benefits, ease burdens, and become a blessing for us all," she said.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Puan Maharani affirmed that Ramadan is a moment for reflection to strengthen social awareness and the spirit of giving.
According to her, the blessings of Ramadan are not measured solely by material possessions, but by the extent to which one is able to share with others.
"Therefore, I believe the distribution of staple food packages and orphan charity that is always initiated by PIA DPR RI is not merely a routine annual agenda. This is a manifestation of the mutual cooperation of all PIA DPR RI mothers," Puan said.
She called on all elements within the parliamentary environment to use Ramadan as a means of strengthening national commitment and social solidarity. She noted that solidarity and empathy must be continuously nurtured, particularly amid challenging social circumstances.
"Let us use this Ramadan to strengthen social solidarity, deepen empathy, and of course reaffirm our commitment to always stand with the people," she said.
