DPR values PM Modi's visit as momentum to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Dave Laksono assessed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the DPR is a momentum to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and the strategic partnership between the two countries. He stated that this visit reflects the close friendship between Indonesia and India, while also affirming the importance of parliamentary diplomacy as a complement to government diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations. Amid regional dynamics and global challenges, a closer partnership will provide benefits for stability and economic growth for both nations. Dave also highlighted the positive trend in economic relations, noting that bilateral trade value has surpassed USD 28 billion in the 2024–2025 fiscal year. He believes this potential must continue to be developed through increased investment and cooperation in various strategic sectors to provide tangible benefits for job creation and improving Indonesia’s competitiveness.
