DPR urges the Foreign Ministry to ensure the safety of Indonesian nationals abducted by Israel

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Saan Mustopa urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) to ensure the condition of a number of Indonesian citizens who were abducted by the Zionist Israeli military while on a humanitarian voyage to Gaza, Palestine. He said Kemenlu needs to ensure they are safe to give peace of mind to the families of the abducted Indonesians. ‘We certainly hope that, in this case, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government, can strive,’ Saan said at the parliament complex in Jakarta on Tuesday. Earlier, Ahmad Juwaini, the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI) coordinator and head of the Dompet Dhuafa Foundation, said that the nine Indonesians captured and abducted consisted of five humanitarian activists and four journalists. They, he said, joined other international nationals to sail to Gaza from Turkey. However, he said the humanitarian convoy armada named Global Sumud Flotilla was intercepted by the Israeli military on Monday (May 19) at around 15:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB). ‘Three hundred and thirty-two (332) humanitarian activists and journalists from various countries are abducted; that status remains current. 332 people as of this morning,’ Juwaini told the leadership of the MPR at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta, on Tuesday.
