Such behaviour severely undermines academic and moral values. A campus should serve as a safe space for the entire academic community. Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission X, Muhammad Hilman Mufidi, has requested that the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (Satgas PPKS) on campuses carry out its duties and functions optimally. According to Hilman, this step is crucial to ensure that the campus environment is free from all forms of sexual crimes. β€œThe Satgas PPKS must work to the maximum to create a safe, comfortable academic environment free from all forms of violence, whether physical, psychological, or sexual,” he said in Jakarta on Monday. He reminded that the Satgas PPKS has the duties and functions of conducting education, receiving reports, providing assistance to victims, and recommending sanctions against perpetrators of sexual violence. It is known that the alleged sexual violence case has been reported and is currently being investigated by the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Banten Provincial Police. Hilman then emphasised that such actions cannot be justified under any circumstances. In his view, a student should not commit indecent acts or sexual violence, whether against fellow students or lecturers. He urged the police to take firm action and impose criminal sanctions in accordance with the level of the crime committed by the perpetrator. Firm law enforcement is deemed important to provide a deterrent effect, while also protecting victims. Hilman stressed that the campus environment must be clean from all forms of sexual crimes. According to him, the case serves as an important reminder for all educational institutions to strengthen systems for preventing and handling sexual violence and to ensure maximum protection for victims.
