DPR to Oversee Implementation of 8% Commission Scheme for Online Motorcycle Taxis

Wakil Ketua DPR Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal has confirmed that the new commission scheme for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) services officially took effect on 1 July 2026. Under the new arrangement, driver partners receive 92 per cent of the base fare, while the application company receives an 8 per cent commission. “We have declared what the government’s commitment is, including the President and the application operators, that as of 1 July, the 8 per cent cut for the applicator and 92 per cent for the drivers has been implemented,” Cucun said in a written statement received on Friday (3/7). He added that the Ministry of Transportation will draft a technical regulation to serve as a guideline for the policy’s implementation. Meanwhile, the DPR, particularly through Commission V, will conduct oversight to ensure the policy is executed according to the provisions and to prevent any misunderstandings. Responding to reports from drivers who have not yet felt a significant increase in income, Cucun suggested this was linked to fare adjustments made by the application companies. He explained that some applicators have chosen to lower tariffs to keep prices affordable for customers, which has consequently dampened the expected rise in driver earnings. The 8% commission scheme began to be applied by app companies on 1 July 2026 as a follow-up to the government’s directive.
