DPR to Evaluate Government Programs in the 2027 State Budget, Presented on 4 June
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani said the DPR will evaluate a range of government programmes during the discussion of the 2027 RAPBN through the views of the parliamentary factions. ‘Certainly what has been prepared and planned by the Government at present will, on 4 June, be conveyed by all factions in the DPR to present their views on whether the programmes can be implemented this year or next year,’ Puan said in the DPR plenary on Wednesday (20 May 2026). The plenary agenda includes the presentation by President Prabowo Subianto of the Macroeconomic Framework and the Core Principles of Fiscal Policy (KEM-PPKF) RAPBN 2027. Puan also stressed the importance of collaboration between the Government and the DPR in formulating the nation’s fiscal policy. ‘Thus there is indeed collaboration and coordination that have been working well in achieving all programmes that we hope to realise to achieve the welfare of the people as well as possible,’ she said. ‘Therefore, as I understand it, after several days the Government team has conducted consolidation; we of course hope that all programmes and achievements conducted in 2026 can be improved, evaluated, and the plans for 2027 will be better, more well-structured, so that the programmes can be absorbed properly and smoothly,’ Puan added. The PDIP politician assessed that the synergy between the executive and legislative has been working well in supporting the Government’s development agenda. ‘And whatever we implement, I am convinced that the synergy and coordination between the executive and legislative that has been functioning well, as the President has consistently said, that gotong royong, togetherness in building the nation for the welfare of the people is for the unity and integrity of Indonesia,’ she said. In the same session, Puan also asserted that the DPR would support Government programmes as long as they are aimed at the people’s interests. ‘And Mr President, of course we in the DPR will always support all programmes planned by the Government as long as those programmes are undertaken solely for the welfare of all the people, the nation of Indonesia, so that Indonesia remains united under Merah Putih,’ she concluded. Prabowo attended the plenary to deliver the KEM and PPKF RAPBN 2027 directly. He becomes the first President to present directly the government’s annual macroeconomic and fiscal policy directions before the DPR. The plenary also discussed evaluating changes to two Prolegnas Priority Bills for 2026 and heard factions’ views on the Polri Bill proposed by Commission III of the DPR.
