The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) will continue to hold meetings during the month-long recess period from 21 July to mid-August. In addition to the Asset Forfeiture Bill, two other pieces of legislation will be discussed: the Road Traffic and Transportation Bill (LLAJ) and the Copyright Bill, along with the newly initiated Satu Data Indonesia (One Data Indonesia) Bill. “Several commissions have already requested permission to continue discussing laws during the recess,” said Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad during the closing plenary session of the fifth sitting period on Tuesday. Dasco stated that permission had been granted for the commissions to hold legislative meetings during the recess, provided they follow the applicable mechanisms. He revealed that Commission III, among others, had requested to continue public hearing meetings on the Asset Forfeiture Bill. Dasco expressed support for accelerating the bill’s deliberation, citing public dynamics and pressure, noting that public hearings on the bill have been ongoing for the past two months.
