DPR to Conduct Fit and Proper Test for Four BI Officials Next Week
House Speaker Puan Maharani announced that the government has sent four names for Bank Indonesia (BI) official positions to the DPR. The fit and proper test is scheduled to begin next week.
“The letter proposes one name for the BI Governor candidate, Ibu Destry Damayanti, one for the Senior Deputy Governor candidate, Ibu Aida S. Budiman, and two names for Deputy Governor candidates, Bapak Solikin M. Juhro and Bapak M. Anwar Bashori,” Puan stated at the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (12/8/2026).
Puan explained that the four names will be processed by the DPR according to the applicable mechanism. The DPR will subsequently select and approve the names submitted by the government.
“These names will be processed according to the existing mechanism in the DPR for us to select and approve, after which they will be inaugurated by the President,” she said.
“Since the session opening is still on 14 August, we will process these names according to the DPR mechanism after that. The process will begin next week,” she continued.
Previously, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the government had submitted three Presidential Letters (Surpres) to the DPR. The three letters concern the BI Governor candidate, commissioners for the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and candidates for ambassadors to friendly nations.
Prasetyo conveyed this after a meeting with DPR leaders at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (10/8). He confirmed he had coordinated with House Speaker Puan Maharani and Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
Prasetyo said the first Presidential Letter relates to the definitive BI Governor candidate. Additionally, the government proposed replacement candidates for the BI Senior Deputy Governor and Deputy Governors, as the number has been reduced by one. The second letter concerns OJK commissioners, and the third concerns ambassador candidates for various countries.
