DPR Summons North Sumatra Police Over Suspicious Death of Officer's Wife

The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III will summon the North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumut) and the Medan Metropolitan Police (Polresta Medan) for a public hearing on Tuesday (11/8/2026). The summons is in response to the controversial death of WL, the former wife of a police officer, which was initially ruled a suicide. Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman stated that the hearing aims to obtain a direct explanation regarding the progress of the case and to hear the family’s account, as they have expressed doubts and perceived irregularities in the handling of the case. Habiburokhman urged law enforcement to conduct the investigation transparently and professionally, warning against any cover-up or hasty conclusions before all facts and evidence are thoroughly examined.
