Jakarta (ANTARA) - Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Puan Maharani stated that the government must implement prevention and anticipatory measures to ensure Indonesia does not become a stopover for online gambling (judol) syndicates. Regarding the crackdown on international judol syndicates by the Indonesian National Police (Polri), she said that no parties should turn Indonesia into a stopover or main location for such prohibited activities. “Therefore, tightening or anticipation related to this must be carried out,” Puan said in Jakarta on Tuesday. “This is important because it also serves to prevent it from becoming more widespread,” she added. Previously, the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of Polri arrested 321 foreign nationals in connection with online gambling crimes in an international network in the Hayam Wuruk area, Jakarta. Director of General Criminal Offences at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Police Wira Satya Triputra, said the case disclosure was a follow-up to a long investigation based on public information.
