DPR Speaker: Ad Hoc Court for BUMN is a Warning for All State Institutions

Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas has said the proposal for an ad hoc court to investigate the management of state-owned enterprises (BUMN) is a form of warning.

According to Supratman, the warning is aimed not only at BUMN but at all state institutions. He said there are currently no plans to institutionalise the proposed ad hoc court.

“As of today we have not gone there, but it is a warning from the DPR to everyone, not only to BUMN but to all state institutions,” Supratman said after the MPR Annual Session at the parliamentary complex on Friday (14/8).

The Gerindra Party politician explained that the ad hoc court should be viewed in the context of eradicating and preventing corruption. He said many judicial institutions already exist that can handle all criminal cases.

“The institutions already exist, the courts are already there, but he always says how do we prevent or eradicate,” Supratman said.

In his speech at the MPR Annual Session, Prabowo said some BUMN have operated without adequate accountability to the state.

Prabowo said he wanted to establish a special ad hoc court to investigate alleged mismanagement by directors over the past 30 years.

“Perhaps we must establish a special ad hoc court so that we can investigate, so that we can investigate the directors and management going back 30 years,” Prabowo said.
