DPR Secretary General Indra Iskandar Wins Pre-Trial Hearing, KPK Suspect Status Overturned
The sole judge of the South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel) has accepted part of the pre-trial application filed by the Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Indra Iskandar. Indra’s suspect status in the alleged corruption case concerning the procurement of furnishings for DPR members’ official residences in the 2020 fiscal year has been overturned.
“Ruling, one, the applicant’s pre-trial request is partially granted,” stated the sole judge Sulistiyanto Rokhmad Budiarto while reading the pre-trial verdict at the South Jakarta District Court, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (14/4/2026).
The judge declared that the KPK had acted arbitrarily in designating Indra as a suspect. The judge stated that the suspect designation lacks binding legal force.
“Declaring the respondent’s act of designating the applicant as a suspect based on Investigation Order letter number Sprin.Dik/13/DIK.00/01/01/2024 dated 19 January 2024 and Notification of Commencement of Investigation letter number B/41/DIK.00/23/01/2024 dated 22 January 2024 as an arbitrary act,” said the judge.
The judge opined that Indra’s suspect designation was not carried out with the fulfilment of the minimum requirement of two valid pieces of evidence. The judge also opined that Indra had not been examined as a prospective suspect before being designated as a suspect in the case.
“Declaring invalid and without binding legal force the designation as a suspect by the respondent against the applicant Indra Iskandar related to the implementation of the procurement of furnishings for DPR members’ official residences in the 2020 fiscal year,” stated the judge.
In this case, the KPK had designated DPR RI Secretary General Indra Iskandar as a suspect. However, Indra has not been detained by the KPK. Indra was designated as a suspect along with six other individuals.
The KPK had previously explained the reason for not detaining Indra. The KPK stated that it was still completing documents related to state losses.
“Not yet. We’re still like this. The DPR Secretary General case. Regarding the DPR Secretary General case, we’re completing it. We’re completing the documents for calculating the state losses,” said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, at the parliamentary complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/8).
For information, the KPK is investigating the alleged corruption case related to furnishings for DPR members’ official residences in the 2020 fiscal year. The KPK stated that there were allegations of price markups in this case.
“The case, if I’m not mistaken, involves price markups,” said the Deputy Chairman of the KPK at that time, Alexander Marwata, at the KPK building, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (6/3).
Alexander did not explain in detail the total budget that was inflated. He mentioned that the prices used in the project procurement were allegedly made higher than market prices.
The project is said to be worth Rp 120 billion. The losses in this case are alleged to reach tens of billions of rupiah.
