DPR Says Government Preparing Incentives After Pertamax Price Hike

Jakarta - The Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Mukhamad Misbakhun, has revealed that the government is formulating a stimulus package for the public following the increase in the price of Pertamina’s RON 92 fuel, Pertamax. “It is being formulated, we discussed it there earlier,” Misbakhun said when asked by reporters about communications with the government to anticipate inflation resulting from the Pertamax price hike. “It has been discussed, efforts are underway to calculate what will become the stimulus or sector incentive. Typically, people who use Pertamax are those on the borderline with Pertalite users. We want to ascertain what they actually need as a stimulus,” he continued. Misbakhun believes the Pertamax price increase could influence a rise in inflation, although the exact impact cannot yet be determined. “Because Pertamax is mostly consumed by the public. It is not industrial fuel, which usually exerts the heaviest pressure,” Misbakhun added. The Pertamax price hike implemented by Pertamina, Misbakhun noted, is an adjustment to high global crude oil prices, where price adjustments were previously made for Pertamax Plus and Pertamax Turbo. “Now Pertamax is beginning to undergo a price adjustment,” he added. PT Pertamina officially raised the prices of two types of non-subsidised fuel oil as of 10 June 2026. According to the PT Pertamina Patra Niaga website, Pertamina increased the prices of non-subsidised Pertamax (RON 92) and Pertamax Green (equivalent to RON 95) starting Wednesday, 10 June 2026. In DKI Jakarta and surrounding areas, the price of Pertamax (RON 92) as of 10 June 2026 is priced at Rp 16,250 per litre, an increase of Rp 3,950 per litre from the previous price of Rp 12,300 per litre. Meanwhile, the price of Pertamax at Pertashop is now priced at Rp 16,150 per litre.
