DPR RI Budget Committee: Free Education Programme May Only Commence in 2028

The Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives’ Budget Committee, Said Abdullah, stated that the free education programme, spanning from primary school to university levels, will likely only be realised in 2028.

The Government and the House of Representatives (DPR) are currently mapping out the necessary budgetary requirements. Preliminary estimates suggest a requirement of approximately Rp 210 trillion for primary to secondary education, with the budget for higher education estimated to be around Rp 92 trillion.
