DPR Reveals PFII Location Could Be More Than One, President to Decide

Jakarta - Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) has revealed that the determination of the location for the International Financial Centre of Indonesia (PFII) is still being discussed with the working committee from the Ministry of Finance and other ministries and institutions. Commission XI member from the NasDem Party Faction, Fauzi H. Amro, stated that the deliberation of the PFII Bill is still in the editorial revision stage, so discussions regarding the location are ongoing. “The discussion is still in the editorial revision stage, we haven’t talked about the substance yet, such as determining the location and others,” Fauzi said when met by journalists at the DPR on Tuesday (15/7/2026). However, he noted there is a possibility that the location could be more than one. He added that the PFII location will ultimately be determined by President Prabowo Subianto. “Perhaps we will provide options or leave it to the President, rather than causing polemics among us, we’ll just hand it over to the President, whatever the President wants, whether it’s in Bali, Jakarta, Batam, or the Nusantara Capital City (IKN),” Fauzi stated. Previously, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto confirmed that Bali would be the location for the PFII development. He even emphasised that the Government Regulation for its construction has been prepared and could be completed before 16 August 2026, even though the PFII Law is still being discussed between the government and the DPR with a completion target of 21 July 2026. “Yes, soon after that. Hopefully before 16 August everything will be ready,” Airlangga said at his office in Jakarta on Friday (10/7/2026). According to Airlangga, Bali was chosen as the PFII location because its supporting infrastructure is already complete, ranging from international-standard hospitals in the Sanur Special Economic Zone to its world-renowned tourism. He said the PFII itself will be placed in a special SEZ in Bali, away from traffic congestion. “So we are offering something like in Dubai, where it’s in a certain area that isn’t too busy, and likewise in other places. So Bali is one of the places that also requires first-class health conditions and we already have the Sanur SEZ,” Airlangga explained.
