Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has revealed that around 200 employees of TikTok and Tokopedia have opted to receive compensation amid the company’s ongoing organisational restructuring.

The statement was made by Dasco following a meeting with TikTok Indonesia and Tokopedia President Director Stephanie Susilo at the Parliament Complex in Central Jakarta on Monday. According to Dasco, the management explained that the ongoing process is not a termination of employment, but rather part of a workforce realignment within the company.

Dasco explained that some employees chose to accept the compensation offered by the company and continue their careers elsewhere. He noted that the number of workers who have taken this scheme has reached approximately 200 people to date.

"So, in this restructuring effort, there are already those who have taken the compensation because the amount is substantial and they work elsewhere. But there are also those who have taken the compensation and are then channelled into other TikTok group subsidiaries," Dasco said.

He added that some workers who received compensation still have the opportunity to work at other companies within the TikTok group.

In addition to those opting for compensation, Dasco stated that some employees are being transferred to other companies within the TikTok group. However, he has not yet received complete data regarding the number of reassigned workers.

"So, those who have taken the compensation are only around 200 so far. But there are also those who have been reassigned, and I haven’t got the numbers for that yet," he said.

Dasco emphasised that the process is not a termination of employment, as has been widely discussed recently. He stated that the management clarified the move is part of organisational adjustments and workforce realignment following changes in the company’s structure.

Because of this, according to Dasco, some workers were given the option to accept compensation or continue working in other business units still within the company group.
