Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives Dave Laksono believes that the resignation of Lieutenant General TNI Yudi Abrimantyo from the position of Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais) of the TNI, as a consequence of the acid attack case against activist and Deputy Coordinator of KontraS Andrie Yunus, demonstrates an awareness of the importance of transparency and public trust in state institutions.

According to him, every public official has a moral and institutional responsibility to maintain integrity and accountability. The step taken by the Head of Kabais in surrendering his position as a form of accountability is an attitude that deserves appreciation.

“We also see that the TNI has taken comprehensive and open investigative steps,” Dave said in Jakarta on Thursday.

In addition, he views this step as a manifestation of the TNI institution’s commitment to upholding professionalism and ensuring that every process runs in accordance with applicable legal rules.

However, he emphasised that the accountability mechanism should not stop at the personal aspect, but also serve as a momentum for institutional evaluation so that similar incidents that could damage public trust in defence and security institutions do not occur in the future.

To that end, he invited all parties to respect the ongoing legal process, while maintaining the stability and dignity of state institutions.

Commission I of the House of Representatives, he said, is committed to ensuring that the principles of professionalism, accountability, and transparency remain the foundation in every policy and action taken by state apparatus.

Previously, TNI Headquarters stated that the position of Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais), held by Lieutenant General TNI Yudi Abrimantyo, has been handed over, as a result of the investigation into the acid attack case on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. However, the TNI has not yet explained all aspects of the matter in detail.

“So we need to convey here, as a form of accountability, today the handover of the Kabais position has been carried out,” said the Head of the Information Centre (Kapuspen) of TNI Headquarters Major General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah during a press conference at TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/3).
