DPR Reminds That Digitalisation of Social Assistance Data Is an Urgent Need
Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Ditjen Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs are continuing to strengthen digital transformation in the distribution of social assistance (bansos) through the socialisation of Digital Social Protection (Perlinsos) based on Digital Population Identity (IKD). One of the efforts involved holding a socialisation event for 138 participants, including social assistants in Malang City, East Java. Member of Commission II of the DPR RI, Ahmad Irawan, assessed that the digital verification of social assistance has become an urgent need. This is because cases of misdirected aid, duplicate data, and eligible citizens not receiving assistance due to outdated population data are still being found. According to Irawan, social assistance is not merely a matter of budget size, but rather the accuracy of recipient data. Therefore, he continued, IKD serves as a strategic instrument to synchronise population data updates with the social assistance verification process. “The success of social assistance is determined by the accuracy of recipient data. We encourage the public to actively report any changes to their population data and to immediately activate their IKD at the nearest Dukcapil office,” he said in a press release in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/7/2026). Member of Commission II of the DPR RI, Ali Ahmad, stated that the transformation of social assistance distribution must be supported by IKD-based verification as a single source of truth. According to him, the use of integrated population data will improve the accuracy of determining aid recipients while minimising the potential for targeting errors. “Commission II of the DPR RI is committed to overseeing the IKD activation regulations and encouraging data interoperability across ministries and institutions so that social assistance is truly received by entitled citizens,” Ali said.
