DPR Oversees PT Pos Employee Rights, Rp158 Billion Payment Realised
The efforts of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) to oversee the resolution of rights for PT Pos Indonesia employees have yielded results. The payment of PT Pos Indonesia’s invoice to the Ministry of Social Affairs, amounting to Rp15lar billion, was received by the company on Saturday (29/08/2026), providing certainty for the rights of approximately 59,000 active workers and pensioners.
The President Director of PT Pos Indonesia, Iskandar Kunaefi, expressed his appreciation to the DPR RI. “Praise be to God, the payment from the Ministry of Social Affairs has been received by PT Pos today,” he said on Saturday (29/08/2026). He extended his gratitude to the Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, the Chair of Commission VI of the DPR RI, Anggia Ermarini, and the Deputy Chair of Commission VI, Andre Rosiade, for overseeing the resolution of this issue.
The General Chairman of the Indonesian Post Workers Union, Iwan Suryanegara, expressed similar sentiments. “Representing all workers and officials of PT Pos Indonesia, we thank Mr Dasco for fighting for workers’ rights so that workers receive their entitlements and their jobs are protected,” he stated. Iwan also thanked the leadership of Commission VI of the DPR RI, the Minister of Finance, and Danantara for assisting in the resolution process.
Originating from Worker Aspirations
This issue began when the DPR RI received aspirations from representatives of PT Pos Indonesia and the workers’ union during a dialogue in the DPR RI Leadership Room, Nusantara III Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, on Wednesday (26/08/2026). Workers expressed concerns regarding the certainty of employee rights and the company’s future amidst financial pressures.
The DPR deemed this matter urgent as it involves approximately 31,000 active employees and 28,000 pensioners. Commission VI of the DPR RI subsequently pushed for the accelerated disbursement of the Rp158 billion invoice from PT Pos Indonesia to the Ministry of Social Affairs based on audit results. The Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, emphasised that the funds represent a debt payment rather than a bailout, meaning the disbursement should not be prolonged. The DPR then continued to oversee coordination with relevant ministries and agencies until the payment was realised.
Continued Oversight
The DPR RI, through Commission VI, will continue to perform its oversight function regarding the health restoration process of PT Pos Indonesia, the settlement of outstanding obligations, and the protection of workers’ rights. “The resolution of the PT Pos issue does not end with the disbursement of payment. The DPR will continue to ensure that similar issues do not impact workers’ rights in the future,” said Dasco.
