DPR Optimistic West Java II People's School Will Operate in New Academic Year
Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) is optimistic that the construction of Sekolah Rakyat Jabar II in Sukamahi Village, Cikarang Pusat, Bekasi Regency, West Java, can be completed on schedule and ready for use in the 2026/2027 Academic Year. This optimism was expressed following a specific working visit by Commission V to the project site on Friday (12/6) to observe first-hand the progress of development being carried out by PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero).
During the visit, Commission V inspected a number of facilities under construction, including classrooms, male and female dormitories, teacher housing blocks, and kitchen facilities. Discussions also covered the integration of the school’s spatial planning, given that the concept is a boarding school for elementary, junior high, and senior high school students.
‘Development progress shows positive momentum. Although the construction timeline is relatively tight, quality must remain the primary focus until the project is completed,’ said Deputy Chair of Commission V, Syaiful Huda.
Responding to the visit, PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) Corporate Secretary Dian Sovana expressed appreciation for the attention and support from Commission V. ‘We welcome the working visit as a form of support and oversight for the construction of Sekolah Rakyat Jabar II. The input provided motivates us to continue maintaining work quality while ensuring the project is completed according to the government’s target. We are committed to delivering safe, comfortable, and proper educational facilities for the students who will study at this People’s School,’ said Dian.
She explained that construction has now entered the final completion stage. Together with all stakeholders, the company is accelerating work and maintaining strict supervision so that all facilities can operate optimally when the new academic year begins.
Sekolah Rakyat Jabar II is designed to accommodate approximately 900 to 1,080 students divided into 36 study groups. The programme is part of the government’s effort to provide free, quality education access for communities in decile 1 and decile 2 categories, or the poor and extreme poor groups.
The presence of Sekolah Rakyat is expected not only to broaden educational access but also to serve as a means of shaping an excellent generation through an integrated learning environment supported by adequate facilities. Dian emphasised that the programme carries significant social impact by opening better educational opportunities for those in need.
