DPR on BI Independence and Dismissal of BI Governor in the P2SK Law

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Deputy Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and Chairman of the Working Committee for the P2SK Law revision, Mohamad Hekal, stated that the ratification of the Bill on the Amendment to Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK) is intended to strengthen financial sector governance in support of national economic growth. Regarding the issue of Bank Indonesia’s independence, Mohamad Hekal confirmed that the P2SK Law does not alter BI’s independence, although BI’s duties have been expanded to include attention to the real sector and job creation.
