DPR Members Urge Thorough Investigation into Mastermind Behind Andrie Yunus Case

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Eight factions in the DPR RI’s Commission III have agreed to the formation of a working committee (panja) regarding the acid attack case against the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus.

During the factional views session at the Commission III DPR RI meeting on Wednesday (18/3/2026), the parliament members requested that this case be thoroughly investigated.

Members of Commission III DPR also hope that this case is investigated transparently and that the mastermind behind the acid attack is revealed.

“And hopefully, as conveyed by the Chairman of Commission III, in this case there is a perpetrator, there are those who assisted, and there is an intellectual actor. This is what we will uncover, which is why we are forming a Panja to monitor this going forward,” said Safaruddin during the meeting.

A similar sentiment was expressed by a member of Commission III DPR RI from the Golkar Party Faction, Soedeson Tandra.

Tandra also appreciated the work already done by Polri, but he asked the authorities to thoroughly uncover everyone involved.

“Therefore, we request that this case be revealed as clearly as possible, including those who ordered it, facilitated it, and carried out the acid attack. Because this has become a public concern and it has injured the principles of law enforcement and our democracy,” he said.

Bimantoro also appreciated the swift action by Polri in uncovering the perpetrator of the acid attack.

However, he hopes that this case can be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the new Article 170 of the Criminal Code.

“If there is an intellectual actor or civilian parties involved, this must be opened transparently so that there is no doubt, because it is clear that President Prabowo is very committed to handling human rights and maximising justice for human rights,” he emphasised.

He also believes in Polri’s ability to investigate this case professionally and transparently.

“Of course, as mentioned earlier, those who ordered it, who is behind all of this, those who helped carry it out, can certainly be revealed clearly and explicitly,” emphasised Machfud.
