A vehicle carrying Muhammad Hilman Mufidi, a member of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from the National Awakening Party (PKB) faction, was involved in a fatal accident on the Pasuruan-Probolinggo (Paspro) Toll Road at KM 834 on Saturday afternoon. The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of two staff members of the delegation at the scene.

The accident occurred on Lane B, in the area of Posangit Lor Village, Wonomerto District, Probolinggo Regency, East Java. The Head of the Law Enforcement Unit of the Probolinggo City Traffic Police, Aipda Muhammad Taufik Rahadian, explained that the accident began when a Toyota Innova, with registration number N 1297 NB, was travelling from east to west (Probolinggo towards Pasuruan) in the right lane.

The vehicle, driven by Mahrus Ali, was carrying Gus Hilman along with two accompanying staff members. Upon reaching the location, a dump truck with registration number W 8439 UK, driven by Imam Subekti, was travelling in the same direction ahead of them. “The driver of the Innova is suspected to have been drowsy or lacked concentration, causing the vehicle to swerve left and strike the rear right side of the dump truck’s cargo bed,” Taufik stated.

Due to the heavy impact, the Toyota Innova sustained severe damage, particularly to the front and the left side of the body. The traffic incident claimed the lives of two passengers inside the Innova. Meanwhile, Gus Hilman and his driver were reported to have survived, although they sustained injuries.

The deceased victims have been identified as Alex Anwaruh (25) and Adinda Najwa (26), who were staff members accompanying Gus Hilman. All victims, both deceased and injured, were immediately evacuated by officers to Ar Rozy Hospital in Probolinggo City.

Prior to the fatal accident, Gus Hilman and his delegation had reportedly just completed a work agenda in Probolinggo, which included attending a seminar and a series of roadshows at Nurul Jadid University. The Probolinggo City Traffic Police are currently conducting a crime scene investigation and gathering witness statements to determine the exact cause of the accident.
