DPR Member's Car Accident on Paspro Toll Road Claims Two Lives
Probolinggo, East Java — A vehicle carrying Muhammad Hilman Mufidi (known as Gus Hilman), a member of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), was involved in an accident at KM 834 of the Pasuruan-Probolinggo (Paspro) Toll Road on Saturday afternoon, resulting in two fatalities at the scene.
“The accident occurred on the Pasuruan-Probolinggo (Paspro) Toll Road, KM 834, Lane B, in Posangit Lor Village, Wonomerto District, Probolinggo Regency,” stated Aipda Muhammad Tauf0adfik Rahadian, Head of the Law Enforcement Unit of the Probolinggo City Traffic Police, when contacted on Saturday night.
The two deceased victims have been identified as Alex Anwaruh (25) and Adinda Najwa (26), who were staff members accompanying Gus Hilman’s entourage. The driver and Gus Hilman survived the crash with injuries and have been transported to a local hospital.
The delegation from the National Awakening Party (PKB) had previously attended a seminar and roadshow at Nurul Jadid University in Probolinggo.
“The vehicles involved in the accident were an Innova with registration number N-1297-NB, driven by Mahrus Ali, Gus Hilman’s driver, and a dump truck with registration number W-8439 UK, driven by Imam Subekti,” he added.
He explained that the Innova, carrying Mahrus Ali, Gus Hilman, Alex Anwaruh, and Adinda Najwa, was travelling from Probolinggo towards Pasuruan (east to west) in the right lane. Upon reaching the scene, a dump truck travelling in the same direction struck the vehicle.
“The driver of the Innova is suspected to have been drowsy or lacked concentration, causing the vehicle to veer left and collide with the rear right side of the dump truck’s cargo bed,” he said.
As a result of the incident, two people died and two were injured; all victims were taken to Ar Rozy Hospital in Probolinggo City. The Innova sustained heavy damage to its front and left side due to the force of the impact. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
