DPR members back SRC's role in empowering convenience store owners
JAKARTA (ANTARA) - DPR Commission IX member Indah Kurnia praised the role of Sampoerna Retail Community (SRC) in strengthening the empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and promoting the welfare of convenience store owners.
In a statement in Jakarta on Thursday, she highlighted the significant contribution of women, particularly mothers within the SRC ecosystem.
She said women’s role is crucial for family resilience and national economic growth, so the health of mothers must be a shared concern.
“So be proud, be happy, be enthusiastic that mothers’ contributions are vital to Indonesia’s economic growth, so SRC convenience store-owning mothers must stay healthy,” she said.
PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. President Director Ivan Cahyadi stated that SRC’s 18th anniversary is an occasion to celebrate and reaffirm SRC’s commitment to supporting and strengthening MSMEs in Indonesia.
“Starting with 57 stores in 2008, SRC has now grown to over 250,000 stores, supported by more than 6,300 partners and connected through 10,000 community groups nationwide. Over 18 years, SRC has demonstrated sustainable impact from consistent and timely initiatives,” Ivan said.
As part of its commitment to MSMEs, SRC last week held a free health check-up (CKG) programme attended by around 500 SRC store owners in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) areas.
Ivan said resilient MSMEs come from productive, adaptable, and prosperous entrepreneurs. Therefore, cross-sector collaboration is key to ensuring government programmes, including CKG, benefit all societal layers more widely and evenly.
“We appreciate this initiative as a wise decision. May everyone stay healthy and happy, contributing to the nation through their well-being,” Indah said.
SRC, which began as simple guidance for convenience stores, has grown into Indonesia’s largest traditional retail movement.
SRC’s growth is driven by a comprehensive approach, including business skills development, management training, and digital technology utilisation through the AYO by SRC ecosystem, enabling MSME entrepreneurs to adapt to changing consumer behaviour in the digital age.
