DPR Member: WFH Every Friday Could Become a Long Weekend

A member of Commission II of the House of Representatives from the PKB faction, Muhammad Khozin, stated that the work from home (WFH) policy, or working outside the office every Friday, could transform into a long weekend or extended end-of-week holiday. He called on the government to periodically evaluate the implementation of WFH. “Along with consistent supervision by ministries and agencies as well as regional governments,” he said when contacted on Wednesday, 1 April 2026. He urged the government to ensure that WFH meets targets for reducing fuel oil (BBM) consumption. He also requested that the productivity of civil servants (ASN) be maintained in providing public services. Khozin further encouraged the central and regional governments to use this momentum to design better public transportation in the regions. Digital transformation in the central and regional bureaucratic environment is also necessary. “And it becomes a momentum for air pollution control,” he said. According to him, coordination across ministries and agencies must be carried out. He hopes that this WFH will reduce BBM consumption as well as improvements in several sectors. Previously, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the WFH policy every Friday is expected to encourage efficiency while maintaining productivity. The government is also limiting the use of official vehicles to 50 per cent and promoting the utilisation of public transport. “So reducing official vehicles and using public transport as much as possible,” Airlangga said.
