DPR Member: US-Israeli Aggression Against Iran Proves Board of Peace Cannot Bring Peace

Military aggression carried out by Zionist Israel together with the United States against the Islamic Republic of Iran proves international doubts about the Board of Peace (BoP) or Peace Council. The US is the mastermind and leader of the BoP, which has been promoted as a Peace Council for Gaza, Palestine, and Israel as one of its members.

Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) member TB Hasanuddin stated that the open military attack on Iran demonstrates the true nature of Israel and the US as members and leaders of the BoP—one that is anti-peace. Hasanuddin argued that the Israeli-US attack on Iran also demonstrates the hollow message of the BoP’s formation to create peace for Palestinian lands.

“From this incident (the attack on Iran), we become increasingly certain and disbelieving that the BoP truly has a sincere mission for peace. What is happening now, the facts on the ground actually show an escalation of conflict (war) that will increasingly expand,” Hasanuddin told Republika through a press statement received in Jakarta on Sunday (1/3/2026).

According to TB Hasanuddin, the open military attack by Israel and the US against Iran is not an ordinary occurrence. Rather, the PDI Perjuangan politician said the war ambitions to destroy the leadership of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei by US President Donald Trump alongside occupier Benjamin Netanyahu are like pouring new fuel to continue ‘burning’ the situation in the Middle East. This situation will also have direct implications for efforts to create peace in Palestine, which the BoP has recently been loudly proclaiming.

“From this incident, we must conclude that it is impossible for Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu (the leader and member of the BoP) to have genuine intentions to make peace in Palestine and in the Middle East. The current condition makes us increasingly doubt the peace mission that has been claimed through the BoP. And we become increasingly disbelieving that the BoP truly has sincere intentions for peace,” said Hasanuddin.

The Indonesian government is urged to take a firm stance

Regarding the war between the US and Israel against Iran that is currently taking place, TB Hasanuddin pressed the administration of President Prabowo Subianto to determine a clear position. Indonesia has long adhered to a constitutional principle that rejects all forms of aggression and colonisation, whilst supporting world peace.

“The President and or Foreign Minister must immediately convey Indonesia’s official position. Especially since our government has long participated in issues of peace in the Middle East,” said TB Hasanuddin.

According to him, Indonesia’s membership in the BoP that has already been established should be able to serve as an activation channel in taking a role in the current situation. Praise for President Prabowo in his diplomatic visits to many countries in recent times should become strong capital to be directly involved in efforts to stop aggression against sovereign nations carried out by the US and Zionist Israel.

“Through participation in the BoP, it is time for our (Indonesia’s) active diplomatic activism in recent months to show results—whether we are truly seen and have a strategic position globally, or whether we are still far from achieving our goals,” said TB Hasanuddin.
